Thomas Edison once described a formula for success which came down to three things:

The first thing you need is hard work. Once you know what you want, you need to get to work. There’s no getting around it. Drop the idea of easy success. The easier success comes, the easier it can go away.

Persistence is the next key to the formula. Challenges and setbacks will floor the average person, leaving them weeping helplessly on the ground. It will be up to you to decide whether or not you will stand up, dust yourself off, and continue forward.

The last key is common sense. This basically means to notice the results that you’re getting. Hard work and persistence is pointless if you’re doing the wrong things. Be smart about this. If something isn’t working, evaluate it and change your approach.
