“We don’t care what the people say, you know we’re gonna do it big anyway.”
I chose this song because of its message about believing in yourself enough to follow your dreams regardless of what other people say. But just believing in yourself isn’t enough, you have to put in the work as well.
It takes a massive amount of work to do big things in life. At times, you might be working so hard, people will think you’re crazy. I’ve read stories of successful people who often times forget to eat because they are so focused on what they’re doing. There are people who go for weeks or more on 4 hours of sleep a night.
Some may call this level of dedication obsessive. Some may think it’s torture. One important thing to point out is the people who put in this kind of work and succeed at a high level, many of them enjoy the work. They’re doing what they love. Whether it’s running a business, creating music, writing, singing, making deals, or anything else, if you don’t love what you do, then yes, putting in this level of work WILL feel like torture which is why highly successful people recommend following your passion.
When your work feels like play, having a seemingly ridiculous work ethic won’t be nearly as bad as it looks. And when you finally succeed at reaching your dreams, there will still be people who will think it was luck that got you there. How about that?
